What is a Stump Grinder?
It is a heavy piece of machinery with a high speed grinding wheel at the front that moves horizontally and vertically to grind the wood away into chippings.
Do I need to be in while work is carried out?
No, as long as the price has been agreed and access arranged we can carry out the work without anyone present.
Will there be a mess left after completion?
We ensure that the area is left clean and tidy. The wood chip is usually used to fill in the hole and leave the ground level. Sometimes this scan be mixed with soil or compote and then be sowed with grass seed or used as an area for further planting. Alternatively it can be used a mulch or added to your green waste.
Are the operatives qualified and insured?
Yes, fully qualified to use a Stump Grinder to City and Guilds/NPTC level 2 and Stump-Line carry £5m public liability insurance.
Can the tree regrow?
Most tree roots will decompose however occasionally a tree can produce sprouts, some of the types of trees that can regrow spouts are oak, elm, willow and poplar. Any regrowth can be easily rectified with advice from us.
How long will it take?
It depends on the size of the stump, access to site and health of the tree that was removed, it can take from 15minutes to several hours.
The stump is next to a path or patio, can it still be removed?
In most cases this is not an issue, the stump grinder can operate within millimetres of any obstruction.
